Professor of Medical Laboratory Science Department at Kuwait University, with over 25 years of experience in advancing the field of Medical Microbiology, particularly in antibiotic resistance, molecular microbiology, and hospital-associated infections. I hold a Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology from the Medical School, University of Edinburgh, UK. My academic career is characterized by a steadfast commitment to research excellence, impactful teaching, and academic leadership.

Throughout my career, I have successfully led and collaborated on numerous funded research projects as both a Principal Investigator and Co-investigator, securing a total of 1,500,000 Kuwaiti Dinars in research funding. These projects have significantly advanced our understanding of critical microbiological issues, resulting in a high level of scholarly productivity, including the publication of over 120 peer-reviewed articles in international journals and poster presentations at global conferences. My research contributions have been pivotal in the field, notably including the registration of 9 novel genes in GenBank, enhancing our understanding of microbial genomics and antibiotic resistance mechanisms.

In addition to my research endeavors, I have consistently demonstrated excellence in teaching, as reflected by a 95% rating for teaching effectiveness in student evaluations. I have had the privilege of mentoring numerous MSc and PhD students, guiding them towards becoming independent researchers. In my leadership capacity, I served as Vice-Dean of Academic Affairs and Postgraduate Studies at Kuwait University from 2008 to 2016, where I played a central role in shaping academic policies and advancing the university’s postgraduate programs.

My dedication to professional growth is reflected in my continuous participation in specialized workshops and training programs, both within Kuwait and abroad. These experiences have provided me with the latest insights in microbiology, laboratory science, and academic leadership, further enhancing my ability to contribute meaningfully to my field
