DR MOHAMMAD SIDDIQUI

Associate Professor

Dr. Khalid Siddiqui is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the College of Medicine, Kuwait University, Kuwait. He earned his Ph.D. in 2006 as an International Max Planck Research School student from Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Driven by a passion for research, Dr. Siddiqui's academic journey began as a Ph.D. student working under Prof. B. Ludwig at the Biochemistry department at Frankfurt University. During his doctoral studies, he was awarded the prestigious Keystone Symposia Travelling Fellowship to present his research in the United States. Following his Ph.D., he pursued postdoctoral training at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, before joining the faculty of Medicine at Kuwait University. Dr. Siddiqui's academic career has spanned multiple Gulf countries, where he has been instrumental in establishing diabetes research centers and contributing to the development of strategic initiatives to combat this disease. His research focuses on diabetes mellitus, a global health concern affecting over 450 million adults worldwide, with an expected rise in cases. This condition is particularly alarming in the Arab world, where over 30% of the population lives with diabetes.

Dr. Siddiqui's dedication and expertise have made him a leading figure in the field of diabetes research. His contributions continue to shape the landscape of healthcare in the region. His research aims to understand the high prevalence and incidence of diabetes in this region, as well as associated complications like diabetic nephropathy (DKD). He is committed to developing innovative strategies to address this growing health challenge.
