Kuwait University Delegation Wins Various Medals and Distinguished Achievements in the 10th Gulf Sports Tournament Held in Muscat

Kuwait University delegation concluded its participation in the 10th Gulf Sports Tournament for students of universities and higher education institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which was held in the capital of Oman, Muscat, during the period from January 17 to 25, organized by Sultan Qaboos University, where the delegation established a remarkable presence with a variety of medals, in addition to an official honor that reflects the university’s status and prominent role in Gulf forums.

 

The participation of Kuwait University delegation in the tournament witnessed the achievement of a number of sports accomplishments. In the field of athletics, student Khaled Al-Harbi won the gold medal in the 1500-meter race, student Shaheen Al-Shatti won the silver medal in the 200-meter race, and won the bronze medal in the 100-meter race, student Suleiman Malallah won the bronze medal in the 400-meter race, and student Hamad Sl-Failakawi won the bronze medal in the shot put competition.

The athletics team also won third place in the championship.
 

In swimming, student Ali Al-Shamali won the silver medal in the 50-meter butterfly race, and student Abdulaziz Al-Mundhir won the bronze medal in the 50-meter backstroke race.

 

In table tennis, the university team achieved fourth place in the individual and team competitions.
 

This came in fifth place among the 17 participating Gulf universities.

 

In the context of the Gulf participation, Acting Dean of Student Affairs at Kuwait University, Prof. Jassim Mohammed Al-Hamdan, honored His Excellency the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al-Hajri, who attended the opening ceremony of the 10th Student Sports Tournament hosted by Sultan Qaboos University. During the honoring, Al-Hamdan expressed his appreciation for the ambassador's role in supporting the university delegation and his effective contribution to strengthening Gulf student ties.


 

In this regard, Prof. Al-Hamdan expressed his pride in the achievements of the university students in the tournament, noting that these results reflect the students' commitment and excellence in various sports fields, stressing that Kuwait University will continue to support athletic talents and provide all means that contribute to developing their capabilities and skills.


 

Prof. Al-Hamdan also explained that the tournament comes within the framework of strengthening Gulf relations, through honorable sports competition, which brings together students of the GCC countries under one umbrella, reflecting the spirit of brotherhood, cooperation and exchange of experiences.
