
The Council of Ministers has issued a decree appointing Prof. Dina Musaed Yousif Al-Mailem, a faculty member in the Department of Biological Sciences at the College of Science, as the President of Kuwait University. This is in accordance with the Amiri Decree Law No. 156 of 2024, issued two months ago, which amends some provisions of Law No. 76 of 2019 regarding public universities. The law stipulates that the appointment of the university president is by decree for a term of four years, renewable once, based on the proposal of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
It is worth mentioning that Prof. Dina Al-Mailem has held several supervisory positions at the College of Science. She assumed the position of Vice Dean for Research and Laboratories Affairs, then the role of Vice Dean for Planning, Consultations, and Training at the college. She has also participated in many committees on department, college, university, and national levels.
Additionally, she received the Scientific Production Award for the year 2015 from Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) in the field of life sciences.
