The first Kuwait University Mini-Goal Championship was launched on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at the Sports Complex of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) in Shuwaikh. The championship is organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs represented by the Sports Activities Department under the patronage of the President of Kuwait University Prof. Yousef Al-Roumi. The championship is held in partnership with the Kuwaiti mini-goal Committee, PAAET, the Public Authority for Sports, the Kuwait Football Association, and in cooperation with the Kuwaiti Ambition Sports Club, and the Special Education Department represented by Al-Amal School students.
The Acting Director of the Sports Activities Department and Chairman of the Committee for the Championship Mr. Jaber Dashti said that the committee is ready to host the event. He stressed the importance of including all groups in Kuwait University from students, supporting academic staff, and faculty members. The championship will also include students with disabilities alongside able-bodied students, which is the first of its kind in academic sports competitions.
The general supervisor of the tournament, Dr. Tariq Dashti, described the launch as encouraging. The teams representing Kuwait University, PAAET and the Ambition club competed on launch day. He added that during the first day of the competition, 24 teams participated in 12 matches from the round of 32. He indicated that the invitation is open to everyone to attend and enjoy the competitions during this week until the final on Thursday 17/11/2022, except for Tuesday, which will be reserved for women.
