The Kuwait Journal of Sciences and the Kuwait Journal of Engineering Research took a groundbreaking step as the Editor in Chief of the Kuwait Journal of Sciences Prof. Shafiqa Al-Awadhi announced that the two journals will be joining Elsevier global publishing database.
Professor Al-Awadhi explained that Elsevier is a publishing house dedicated to publishing medical and scientific books and periodicals. Its archives include over 16 million research papers and 30000 e-books. It is also the official sponsor of Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Embase. She thanked the President of Kuwait University Prof. Yousef Al-Roumi for his significant role in completing this agreement, as the approval passed through long channels and faced several obstacles. The contract with Elsevier will run from October 2022 until the end of 2025. The agreement stipulates that Elsevier will be responsible for the two journals in terms of publishing, promoting, selling and distributing. Kuwait University will remain the official owner of the copyrights and trademarks of the journals.
Professor Al-Awadhi explained that this initiative is a milestone for Kuwait University. It will increase Kuwait University’s global presence and will make it easier to search for its writers and authors. She added that using the Elsevier database will improve the quality of the published research papers and increase their impact factor. Impact factor will increase the cite score which is linked to the journals’ global ranking.
