Under the patronage of the Acting Dean of the College of Education and the Acting Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Research, and Graduate Studies Professor Fayez Al-Dhafiri, and with the attendance of the Acting Head of the Curriculum and Instruction Department Professor Suad Al-Fraih, the College of Education held the exhibition ‘Inclusive Design: Between Hope and Reality’. The exhibition was supervised by Dr. Bedour Al-Azmi and it was held in the college’s main lobby.
Professor Fayez Al-Dhafiri stressed the importance of Kuwait University's role, especially the College of Education, by holding exhibitions about people with disabilities. He praised the students’ efforts in transforming theoretical knowledge into tangible educational projects. Professor Al-Dhafiri added that including disabled students, especially those with visual impairments, is a top priority for Kuwait University.
The exhibition supervisor Dr. Bedour Al-Azmi said that the exhibition aims to shed light on the services provided to disabled people, in particular people with visual impairments, and the compatibility of the services to their needs. She added that the exhibition also included several volunteer initiatives from students such as translating and implementing café menus and morning/evening prayers into braille. They also translated library instructions and some courses syllabi. Dr. Bedour explained that inclusive design aims to enable disabled people to independently and easily access services without barriers.
A set of recommendations were reached by the end of the exhibition that may facilitate integrating disabled people into the society.
