A Collaboration Between Dr. Kamal and Dr. Al-Turki
Patent for a Medical Split as an Alternative for Nasal Wicks
In a collaboration between the College of Dentistry in Kuwait University and the Ministry of Health, and with support from Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity (SACGC) of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgical Sciences Dr. Muhammad Kamal and the ENT consultant at the Ministry of Health Dr. Abdulmuhsen Al-Turki obtained a patent from the United States of America for their medical splint.
Dr. Muhammad Kamal said that the invented splint can be used instead of nasal wicks which cause difficulty in breathing, in addition to extreme pain when removing them. He explained that the new splint will not only ease breathing for the patient, but it will also allow for adding medical substances directly to the site of the operation with no obstruction or pain. He thanked everyone who supported their invention to see the light of day, especially SACGC and KFAS.
