In accordance with the instructions of his highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, to develop Kuwait’s five-year plan, Kuwait Embassy in Tokyo met with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science JSPS, one of the largest research funding centers in Japan affiliated with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology MEXT. The meeting revolved around exploring and expanding avenues for scientific cooperation in line with the distinguished historic relations between the two countries.
Within this frame, Kuwait Embassy in Tokyo invites researchers at Kuwait University to collaborate with JSPS, since research areas are open and cover all academic disciplines. The embassy noted that JSPS operates on the bottom-up approach communicating directly with researchers, and that in order to receive the funding support; research projects of KU faculty members must be in collaboration with researchers of Japanese nationality. For instance, a researcher from Kuwait collaborates with a researcher from Japan; they jointly apply for a research grant then JSPS starts studying and reviewing the proposal.
