The College of Business Administration’s team won the ESG Trading Initiative competition for the Middle East 2022. The competition is the first of its kind in the region, and it was sponsored by HSBC and the prestigious Rotan School of Management.
The team included Ismael Al-Andalusi, Fatima Al-Yamani, Ahmed Aziziya, Latifa Al-Khunaini, and It was supervised by Dr. Khaled Waleed Al-Sabah, Assistant Professor in the Finance and Financial Institutions Department and the Director of the Finance Center for Trading. The team competed against 25 teams and 151 students representing 15 leading universities in the Middle East and North Africa like the University of Cairo and the University of Qatar.
Kuwait University’s team won first place in the commodities and ESG competition, and second place in the liquidity competition. After collecting all the points, it was announced on June 13th that Kuwait University’s team won first place overall and will receive prizes worth 12,000 Dollars.
Dr. Khaled Al-Sabah said that this competition is an opportunity for exceptional students to apply their skills and knowledge in a new field. He added that the team showed a great level of skill and competence. He expressed his happiness to win the competition and wished the students success in their future endeavors.
The Head of the Department of Finance and Financial Institutions Dr. Amany Bureslli praised the winning team members and praised their efforts over the past months that culminated in this victory. She said that this win is a cause for happiness and pride, and she hopes this achievement is an incentive to the students to continue their hard work.
