A delegation of faculty members from the Department of Information Science in the College of Life Sciences was invited by the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) to discuss cooperation between the two parties. Faculty members were introduced to the technological services and systems of the agency.
The department of Information Science was represented by its Acting Head of Department Dr. Bader Ali, Professor Qasem Saleh, Dr. Eman Temah Al-Shammari, and Dr. Zahraa Maarfi. The meeting was also attended by the CAIT representatives, the Director General Ms. Haya Al-Wadaani, Vice president Dr. Ammar Al-Husseini, Head of ‘Mata’ platform team Mr. Nawaf Al-Sawagh, and First Engineer Abdulkareem Al-Fouzan.
The meeting tackled the Agency’s efforts towards digital transformation of government services, which help raise the quality of the service and makes it easier for citizens. The delegation presented their recommendations regarding digital transformation. The two parties also discussed training opportunities for the top students of the Information Science Department, and career opportunities for the graduates.
CAIT representatives welcomed any cooperation between the Central Agency and Kuwait University. They emphasized the importance of utilizing the expertise of Kuwaiti nationals, especially graduates from the Information Science Department.
The visit was concluded by a presentation from ‘Mata’ platform team. The presentation included statistics and data that can assist decision-makers in Kuwait in improving digital services. The Kuwait University delegation expressed their readiness to process and analyze the data for future projects.
