Under the patronage of the Acting Dean of the College of Education Professor Fayez Manshar Al-Dhafiri, the Department of Curriculum and Instruction held the first forum for digital transformation under the title ‘Education and Digital Transformation’ in the College of Education theater in Al-Shaddadiya.
The Acting Dean of the College of Education Professor Fayez Manshar Al-Dhafiri said that the goal of the forum is to increase academic and cultural awareness of digital transformation. The event also aims to increase people’s acceptance of new digital technologies in education. He added that the digital generation is facing challenges that require new needs and solutions.
The Head of the Curriculum and Instruction Department Professor Suad Al-Friah said that the Unit of Digital Transformation arranged several events such as an exhibition displaying students’ creations and a competition which encourages creative thinking. She added that the unit’s main goal is raising awareness about the culture of digital transformation and adopting it as a lifestyle. She also said that the Unit of Digital Transformation places great importance on self-discovery. Self-discovery enables students to face any life challenge and promotes independent thinking.
The President of the Digital Unit Dr. Nadia Jassem Al-Ryahi said that the idea of the forum was born from noticing changes in the way of teaching and moving towards digital teaching methods. She said the forum would facilitate exchanging experiences between faculty members and field experts and highlight the latest digital innovations which can contribute to raising the quality of teaching.
The forum included three discussion panels. The first panel ‘What After Teams?’ was led by faculty member in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Abdullah Al-Failakawy. The second panel ‘Successful Applications of Digital Transformation’ was presented by Dr. Umayma Al-Swaihil with the participation of the founder and CEO of ‘Dawrat Com’ Engineer Muhammad Al-Surayie and director of ‘Speedia’ Engineer Abdulaziz Al-Farhan. The forum concluded with a presentation on data security and digital protection presented by the director of ‘Kuwait Hackers’ Dr. Basel Al-Othman.
