Kuwait University is participating in the World Expo 2020 Dubai in the State of Kuwait Pavilion themed "New Kuwait .. New Opportunities for Sustainability", which highlights the Kuwaiti culture, the history and present of the country, the stages of development and renaissance, and reflects Kuwait's vision for the future as a sustainable state.
The State of Kuwait at Expo 2020 Dubai, which was officially launched under the title "Connecting Minds and Creating the Future", is the largest human marketing gathering for various humanitarian fields, whether political, economic or cultural, and aims to highlight the country's strategic development projects in accordance to the New Kuwait Vision 2035, as well as embodying the remarkable humanitarian roles of Kuwait globally.
Kuwait University’s participation in this exhibition comes out of its importance in keeping pace with global scientific development, highlighting its position among its peers and enhancing its presence.
Due to the distinguished interest of the State of Kuwait in scientific research and projects, Kuwait harnesses all its scientific and material capabilities to make its participation in Expo 2020 Dubai successful, through research and projects that emerged from Kuwait University, represented by a distinguished space project aimed at building national capabilities in the field of space technology to create the future and vision of Kuwait 2035.
Kuwait University will participate in Expo 2020 Dubai, in the Space Week "Connecting Minds and Creating the Future", from October 17, 2021 to October 23, 2021, through the participation of the College of Science in a notable space research that produced a project of outstanding importance that is a new addition to the achievements of the State of Kuwait in developing Scientific research that preserves the future of its generations.
This project is the national project for the first Kuwaiti satellite (KuwaitSat 1) which aims to train students to design and build nanoscale satellites, in addition to establishing the first space laboratory at Kuwait University to be a center for research and development of the space industry for the State of Kuwait. The idea of the national project for the first Kuwaiti satellite emerged from Kuwait University, with the support of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, and in cooperation with government agencies in the country, such as the Ministry of Defense, the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research and the Public Authority for Communications and Information Technology.
