Acting President of Kuwait University Prof. Bader Fahad AlBedaiwi chaired the University Council meeting no. (4/2021) that was held on Sunday, June 20th, 2021, in the presence of University Council members at Sabah AlSalem University City.
After the meeting, the acting Secretary-General of the university, Dr. Mardi Obaid Al-Enezi, stated that the university council discussed the articles on its agenda during the meeting. Moreover, the University Council confirmed the report of the meeting no. (3/2021) held on April, 7th, 2021, and reviewed the follow-up report of implementing the Council's decisions of meeting no. (3/2021).
Dr. Al-Enezi indicated that the University Council was informed of the mandates entrusted to the President of the University in some of the current specializations, which had previously been approved by the University Council in previous meetings in the light of University Law No. (29) of 1966. Also the proposed mandates in accordance with the terms of reference of the University Council in Article (11) of Law No. (67) of 2019 regarding public universities.
Dr. Al-Enezi stated that the University Council has approved the proposal of the Deanship of Admission and Registration regarding the basic rules for admission and transfer at Kuwait University for the academic year 2021/2022. Referring to the council's approval to accept (8071) new students for the academic year 2021/2022, if the necessary funds are available.
Dr. Al-Enezi added that the council approved the proposal of the Deanship of Admission and Registration regarding the conditions for accepting students, by determining the number of accepted students, transferred students, tuition fees, the way these fees shall be paid , and the conditions for exemption from it for the academic year 2021/2022.
Dr. Al-Enezi said that the University Council approved on the proposal of the Deanship of Admission and Registration regarding the application of “distance education” for the summer semester of the academic year 2020/2021, in order to activate Articles 23 and 24 of the distance education regulation as long as traditional study is hard to apply.
Dr. Al-Enezi added that the University Council has approved the proposal of the Deanship of Admission and Registration regarding the re-enrollment of students who have been permanently dismissed due to a low major or general GPA, in light of its approval by the Council of Public Universities.
Furthermore, Dr. Al-Enezi declared that the University Council has approved the proposal of the Faculty Members Association and some faculties to report exams by personally attending the semester and final exams on campus, for the current and summer semesters of the academic year 2020/2021, As well as the next semester, according to the regulations set by the colleges.
Dr. Al-Enezi declared that the Council approved the proposal of some colleges to promote (13) faculty members to the rank of Professor and Associate Professor from various colleges, where (6) faculty members in Humanities and Social colleges, and (7) in practical colleges have been promoted, as follows:
