The Secretary General of Kuwait University, Dr. Muthanna Talib Al-Rifaie, stated that the University Council held its meeting No. (1/2021) on Monday, February, 1st, 2021 headed by the Acting President of Kuwait University, Prof. Fayez Ayed Al-Dhafiri. The council discussed the articles on its agenda, and approved on the meeting No. (6/2020), which was held on December, 27th, 2020, and reviewed the follow-up report of the Council's decisions of the meeting no. (6/2020).
Dr. Al-Rifaie stated that the council approved on the annual plan for scholarships for the academic year 2020/2021 submitted by the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Council also reviewed the proposal of the Vice President for Research regarding the approval of contracts for the use of employee services on research projects and public facilities projects for the academic year 2020/2021. Approving the use of the expertise of workers on projects for the academic year 2021/2022, in light of the opinion of the Legal Advice and Legislation regarding the validity of sufficiency with the approval of the University Council on contracts for the use of the services of employees for research projects at the university, pointing to the approval of the Council on the proposal presented in its two clauses.
And Dr. Al-Rifaie said that the Council reviewed the balance sheet and the closing account of the Academic Publication Council and its scientific journals and the Authorship Translation and Publication Committee for the fiscal year 2019/2020. The Council also reviewed the annual report of the Academic Publication Council for the fiscal year 2019/2020, and the council also reviewed the annual report, the balance sheet and final accounts of the Gulf Studies Center and the Arabian Peninsula at Kuwait University for the fiscal year 2019/2020, indicating that the Council approved them all.
Dr. Al-Rifai declared that the University Council approved the proposal of some colleges to promote faculty members to the rank of professor and associate professor from various practical colleges, where (5) faculty members in practical colleges have been promoted, as follows:
Dr. Al-Rifaie added that the University Council approved the proposal of the Social Security Fund to renew the membership of elected members of the Board of Directors for a period of two years, starting from 1/4/2020. Allowing the general assembly to convene for the approval of fund's balance sheet and to hold the renewal elections while providing the necessary support to implement the recommended health requirements. Taking into account the opinion of the General Secretariat in this regard. The Secretary General pointed out that the University Council discussed a number of other items on the agenda.
