Student Shadan Al-Shammari of the Faculty of Public Health Contributed to the Arabic Translation of OneHealthLessons Content

Student Shadan Al-Shammari from the Faculty of Public Health completed the translation of the interactive lesson content on the causes and methods of teaching children via the Internet about COVID-19 pandemic and One-health on the global site onehealthlessons.com, which is partially directed toward the age group 6-8 years, that is considered a valuable addition in the field of distance education.
The acting Head of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Faculty, Dr. Walid Alali, stated that this achievement by Ms. Al-Shammari is not only a voluntary effort, but also is one of the community service models and the application of public health concepts as well as the academic aspect within the educational process in the Faculty for projects that are applied on the ground.
He also added that the integrated lesson aims to alleviate the anxiety about COVID-19 by understanding the potential source of the virus, and interactive games that focus on leaps, reviewing the ways in which people can maintain their health today and tomorrow. Also, the lesson helps students to understand the different opinions of scientists.
Dr. Alali emphasized that the translation of the integrative lesson in Arabic as an eighth language, which guarantees further spread, especially for speakers of this language. It is an effective result of the collaboration with the founder and supervisor of this educational website Dr. Deborah Thompson, a veterinarian from Tufts University, Massachusetts, in the United States.
It is worth noting that the student Shadan Al-Shammari and her colleague Zahra Al-Samra were previously selected for the training/ fellowship program for research at Dasman Diabetes Institute last summer from among many applicants.
