Acting President of Kuwait University Prof. Fayez A. Al-Dhafiri chaired the University Council meeting no. (2/2020). The meeting was held this morning in the presence of the university council members in the university council hall at Khalidiya campus.
In this regard, the Secretary General of the University Dr. Muthanna Taleb Al-Refaei stated that the University Council had discussed a number of issues during the meeting. Moreover, the University Council confirmed the report of the meeting (2020/1) held on 21/4/2020, and reviewed the follow-up report of implementing the Council's decisions of meeting no. (2020/1).
Dr. Al-Refaei indicated that the University Council has reviewed the implemented procedures, organizational decisions and college preparations for the Distance Learning System to be used when study resumes at Kuwait University on August 9th, 2020. It was agreed to adopt the System of Distance Learning, according to the regulations that will be decided by the university council in this regard at its next meeting.
The council discussed a proposal by the Distance Learning Committee about the plan to implement the system of Distance Learning. Dr. Al-Refaei noted that the training plan to implement the distance education system on July 19, 2020 was approved.
Dr. Al-Refaei mentioned that the University Council had approved the proposal of the College of Pharmacy to start implementing the "Doctor of Pharmacy-Pharm D" program at the beginning of the academic year 2020/2021.
Dr. Al-Refaei added that the University Council has reviewed the balance sheet and the final account of Kuwait University for the fiscal year (2019/2020) and the draft budget of Kuwait University for the fiscal year (2020/2021), as well as the balance sheet and the final account of the Foundation for Medical Applications for the two fiscal years (2017/2018– 2018/2019).
He stated that the proposal of College of Graduate Studies was approved to amend section (f) of Article (13) of the amended regulation to organize scholarships at Kuwait University.
Dr. Al-Refaei noted that the University Council has approved a proposal by some colleges to promote (13) faculty members for the rank of Professor and Associate Professor from various colleges, (2) faculty members from the Humanities and Social colleges and (11) faculty members from the Scientific colleges, as follows:
