The Information Science Program offered by the Department of Information Sciences at the College of Life Sciences at Kuwait University has been awarded the Academic Accreditation in Public Computing by ABET International, which specializes in engineering and computing programs.
Dr. Hanadi Abdulsalam, Acting Head of Information Sciences Department, stated that the self-assessment report, prepared by the department to meet the accreditation requirements, was selected among the top 50 in the world and presented at the organization's annual conference in Dallas, Texas, USA.
Dr. Abdulsalam added that the Department of Information Sciences aims to provide a high quality education that is comprehensive and oriented towards the professional life in computer information systems and following an output-based approach to serve Kuwait Vision 2035.
Dr. Ahmad Al-Lafi, Acting Dean of the College of Life Sciences, praised the efforts exerted by the department in developing the teaching process to improve the academic level at the university.
It is worth mentioning that the Department of Information Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science in Information Sciences and two Master programs, one in Information Technology and the other in Computer Information Systems. The Department qualifies its students to work in various fields in information systems departments in the public and private sectors.
The department is currently working in the final stages and in cooperation with the Scientific Affairs at the university to change the name of the department to become the Department of Computer Information Systems to reflect the scientific and professional content of the courses of the program list, and serves the interest of graduates of the department in the labor market and allows for the academic accreditation of the program by ABET as an accredited program in Computing in general and private information systems.
