Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water Dr. Khalid A. AlFadhel, the College of Engineering and Petroleum at the University of Kuwait, represented by the Engineering Training and Alumni Center, inaugurated the 35th Engineering Design Exhibition on Monday, February 11th at the Badriyah Hall located in Jumeirah Hotel and in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity and Water Eng. Humood AlRodhan, President of Kuwait University Prof. Hussain AlAnsari, Director of Engineering Training Center Dr. Bader AlBusairi, heads of scientific departments at the College, Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences Dr. Salam AlAblani and representatives of the sponsors.
On this occasion, the Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water, Dr. Khali Al-Fadil, stressed the excellence of the exhibition, which includes projects that introduce new solutions and innovative ideas from different engineering majors in the college and good youth ideas, pointing out that they are projects related to energy saving and rationalization of water and electricity and designs for the environment as well as projects related to people with special needs.
Dr. AlFadhel stated that there should to be a good investment for projects like these, and that the college should be marketing these projects to decision makers to implement them on the ground as attractive projects and in the interest of the development plan in the country. He expressed his satisfaction that these ideas are Kuwaiti youth ideas capable of putting Kuwait on the map of the world in industrial and technological development.
In turn, Prof. Hussain A. Al-Ansari said: “ We recall today our colleague Dean of the College of Engineering and Petroleum Dr. Abdul Latif AlKhulaifi, who passed away ten days ago and his efforts made through the clear and reflected impact in the Engineering Design Exhibition, pointing out that he was one of the prominent professors”.
Prof. AlAnsari praised the development in the level of projects submitted by students, where the exhibition improves year after year with the efforts of students and the distinguished academic faculty members. He explained that the projects are innovative ideas made by students from various scientific departments in the college with the participation of more than a hundred projects and that the projects presented at the exhibition are useful projects that provide solutions to problems and simulate the reality or develop for future services. Pointing out that the projects are the product of the ideas of students and professors and engineers from the College of Engineering and Petroleum have played a wonderful role and reflects the progress of the curriculum and practical training received by the student during the period of study at the College to start a new stage after graduation.
For his part, Acting Dean of the College of Engineering and Petroleum Dr. Raed Bursali said that the exhibition is a scientific phenomenon that reveals new engineering energies seeking to contribute to the building of modern Kuwait. He pointed out that the exhibition is held twice a year for more than 17 years, which represents a daily effort and persistence by students and professors in the College to highlight their best projects and designs, modern and sophisticated progress during the Engineering Design Exhibition.
