Kuwait University signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation with the National Library of Kuwait in the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters in Kuwait in order to promote and develop cooperation between the two sides in the areas of exchange of books and publications, exchange of experts and technicians, training and career development and the establishment of joint activities and events. The memorandum was signed on behalf of Kuwait University by Prof. Hussein A. AlAnsari- President of the University, and by the National Library of Kuwait, Secretary General of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, Eng. Ali H. AlYouha. In the presence of the General Director of the National Library of Kuwait, Mr. Kamel S. AlAbdulJalil, and Director of Information Services Department at the National Library of Kuwait Mr. Nassar Bolbaka, the External Relations Supervisor in the Culture Sector at the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature, Mr. Mohamed Ben Reda, and the Head of Business Development and Activities at the National Library of Kuwait. And from Kuwait University the Secretary General of the University Dr. Muthanna AlRifae, Vice President for Academic Support Prof. Jassim Ramadan, Director of Libraries Administration Ms. Tahani Kalender, and Deputy Directors of Kuwait University.
On this occasion, the Director of Kuwait University, Dr. Hussein Al Ansari, expressed his pleasure to sign the Memorandum with the National Library of Kuwait. The aim of this agreement is to enhance and develop the cooperation between the two sides in the fields of exchanging books and publications, as well as the exchange of experiences and technician and training, the establishment of joint activities and events, noting that the agreement encourages the parties to cooperate in the organization and holding seminars, conferences and lectures of common interest.
Prof. Al Ansari stated that Kuwait University is keen to exchange information and cooperation in the field of libraries, which reflected positively on students and researchers of Kuwait University and the National Library visitors.
For his part, the General Director of the National Library of Kuwait, Mr. Kamel S. AlAbdulJalil, said that the agreement leads to the establishment of legal bases and conditions for communication and organized cooperation in the scientific, cultural and informational fields within the framework of joint programs and activities to achieve further accomplishments in cooperation. He pointed out the importance of exchanging experiences and technical consultations with Kuwait University and encouraging specialists in the fields of information technology, electronic archiving and the preparation of automatic catalogs, in addition to providing sources of information and receiving visiting researchers and providing facilities and research services.
