The Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education, the higher President of the University Dr. Hamed Al-Azmi and the family of Kuwait University extend their deepest sympathy on the recent passing of Dr. Abdullatif Al-Khulaifi, Dean of College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University, who passed away on Saturday. Dr. Al-Azmi stated that the deceased was a distinguished faculty member, researcher and an active member of the University Council. He pointed out that the deceased was known for his high ethics, his dedication to work, his humility and his good relations with everyone. And so, College of Engineering Petroleum and the University have lost a distinguished academic personality that served the university in all field.
For his part, the president of Kuwait University, Professor Hussein Al - Ansari extends his deepest sorrow on the passing of Dr. Al-Khulaifi, adding that the deceased contributed to the advancement of the College of Engineering and Petroleum and the University, and has a track record of academic achievements, research and management, and is known for his efficiency, sincerity, dedication to work and his high ethics.
The deceased received his bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from Market University, Wisconsin, in 1979 and 1981, and a doctorate from the University of Washington, Missouri, in 1986.
He was appointed as head of the Department of Civil Engineering between 2000-2003 and was Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs from 2003-2005 and from 2007-2011, and was Dean of the College of Engineering and Petroleum from 2016 until his passing.
The kinship of Kuwait University extends its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, his colleagues and loved ones. May Allah give his family comfort and peace during this time of grief.
