Under the patronage and attendance of Kuwait University President Prof. Hussain A. AlAnsari, Kuwait University launched its new strategic plan 2018- 2022 in a ceremony prepared by the Vice President for Planning Office yesterday. The ceremony was attended by the Secretary General, Vice Presidents, secretary General assistants, and Deans and staff members from different colleges, last but not least representatives from both public and private sectors.
In this occasion, the President of Kuwait University Prof. Hussain AlAnsari confirmed in his speech that the methodology adopted by Kuwait University in formulating its strategy of cooperation and efforts of the faculties and departments of the university as a team to formulate a future strategy for the next five years according to an integrated methodology based on the principle of strategic partnership, participation and consultation among all to reach an ambitious plan that reflects the proper planning policy adopted by the university development and development of the aspirations of the university family in various sectors.
During the ceremony, a video presentation about the plan that started in 2016 was played. The plan took two years in cooperation and consultation with all members of the university family, and strategic partnership with various institutions and state bodies to reach the main directions of the university strategy 18-22.
On his part, Assistant Vice President for Strategic Planning Prof. Majid AlDaihani presented the strategy of the university with its core components of vision, mission, and values of work. The strategy includes four main directions: Quality, Innovation, Sustainability, and Excellence.
Eng. Khloud AlJassim of the Strategic Plan team stated that in order to activate the strategic plan of Kuwait University (18-22) and ensure its successful operation, it was necessary to build an integrated system to follow up the achievement and measure the institutional performance periodically. It includes indicators that are designed in line with the components of the Strategic Plan and are as follows: Performance Indicators, these are indicators that measure the strategic aspect of the plan, which contains the strategic goals and objectives by measuring the expected results of the objectives and the expected impact of (goals). The second type of indicators is indicators of follow-up achievement and measures the operational aspect of the plan, which contains initiatives and projects implementation within a specific time frame, by measuring the proportion of completed projects.
According to Eng. Mona Hussain Kuwait University has adopted a new strategic performance management system that supports the University's approach to digital transformation and automation of services. In order to ensure the governance of the system of measuring the institutional performance of Kuwait University, “Corporator” has been contracted to implement an automated system of strategic performance management that contributes to the measurement of performance at all administrative levels of the University, thus achieving the principle of accuracy and transparency in the presentation of information.
She pointed out that this system has been fully funded through the cooperation protocol between Kuwait University and the National Committee for the support of education to be the first project in the university funded through Waqf. Finally, a presentation about the automated system of performance management of Kuwait University.
