A patent entitled "Mechanical Assisting in the towing of trailers" was registered at the office of Invention in the United States of America under number US 9,840,120 B1. This invention is the product of the graduation project for students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University under the supervision of Prof. Khalid Ahmed Al-Hazza. The research team included graduates of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Eng. AlHussein Ali Osman, Eng. Mahmoud Ahmed Hussein, Eng. Abdul Jalil Khalid Al Shamouti and Eng. Abdullah Turki Al Enezi.
The design of the device came as a solution to the difficulty people face in loading the boats and trailers pulled behind the cars as many people suffer, especially if the trailers pulled are heavy and cannot be lifted or moved easily which may cause backaches and financial losses due to the request to accurately return the towing car in the right place and make it under the ball of the diameter directly.
To solve this problem, a bi-directional mechanic was invented to parallel the diameter of the ball with the trailer in an easy way without having to manually raise the trailer.
Prof. Khalid Al-Hazza holds a PhD from Virginia Tech University in 2002 and is a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Kuwait University. He is currently Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at the College of Engineering and Petroleum. He has participated in many committees at the college level. He participated in many scientific conferences and published many researches in prestigious scientific journals.
