College of Law at KU held a seminar on the United Nations Convention against Corruption and Transparency in Kuwait in cooperation with the Kuwait Transparency Society, attended by the Head of State for National Assembly Affairs Eng. Adel Al-Jarallah Al-Kharafi and the Representative of the Commission General for Combating Corruption - Dr. Mohammed Bouzabar, Member of College of Law - Private Law Department - Prof. Medwes Falah Al-Rashidi, Chairman of the Kuwaiti Transparency Society Dr.Majed Al-Mutairi and Board Member of Kuwait Transparency Society Ms. Manal Al-Kandari.

On this occasion, the Head of State for National Assembly Affairs Eng. Adel Al-Jarallah Al-Kharafi highlighted Kuwait's role in implementing the United Nations Convention against Corruption and promoting the values of integrity. To take measures to activate transparency and maintain the level of Kuwait in the websites, pointing to the role of the Council of Ministers in the formation of the Legal Committee, which participated in several parties with the participation of civil society. According to the agreement signed in 2006 that the procedures implemented to activate transparency and maintain the level of Kuwait in the websites, stressing on the role of the Council of Ministers in the formation of the legal committee , and also the role of the government in mechanization to ensure that corruption does not spread.

On his part, Prof. Medwes Al-Rashidi pointed to the mechanism of implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption in Kuwait, indicating that this agreement was approved by the General Assembly in 2003 and ratified by Kuwait in 2006, which was based in the capital city of Qatar. Members are familiar with transparency and integrity, help exchange experiences and meet the various challenges.

For his part, Dr. Mohamed Bozuber explained the goals of the General Authority for Combating Corruption, which is the establishment of the principle of transparency and integrity in economic and administrative transactions, the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption and the protection of whistleblowers on corruption crimes and the promotion of the principle of cooperation and participation.

For his part,Dr. Majed Al-Mutairi defined the international agreement against corruption and the role of civil society institutions in promoting the values of transparency, explaining the role of civil society in providing greater transparency and contributing to decision-making and awareness and reducing corruption through the participation of government bodies in awareness raising.

In turn, Ms. Manal Al-Kandari said that this seminar is far from political objectives, as this seminar is not to blame people or to monitor mistakes, but rather is a legal awareness seminar, pointing out that corruption has a high social, economic and political cost. .
