The Ministry of Education has agreed to use the services of sign language teachers, in order to help Kuwait University students with hearing disabilities in lectures and tests, and modifying the schedules of students according to the teachers of the sign language availability, especially during the morning so as not to affect their jobs.
This came during a meeting with the Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Ali Saif Al-Nami with the Secretary of the Society for Follow-up of Disabled Persons Ali Al-Thuwaini, in the presence of Assistant Dean of Student Affairs for Student Services Dr. Salman Nashmi Al-Enezi, Director of Welfare Department Wael Al-Obaid and a group of students with hearing disabilities.
For his part, Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Ali Al-Nami stressed that the needs of students with disabilities are important and main issues that Kuwait University attaches to its attention. This category constitutes a fundamental pillar in the academic student community. The Deanship of Student Affairs seeks to provide all educational needs and services for students with hearing disabilities and Create an attractive academic environment for them.
It was agreed to limit the materials and specializations for students with hearing disabilities, and provide teachers interpreting sign language in accordance with the specializations of the students. All the faculties of Kuwait University shall comply to the law of the disabled 8/2010, and to provide all their educational needs.
