Kuwait University Administrations are fully prepared for the new academic year 2018/2019

The departments of Kuwait University have announced that they are ready to start the new academic year 2018/2019, as well as receiving the large numbers of students enrolled in the university, including the new students and new faculty members. The directors of various departments stressed their keenness to meet the needs of all university families and provide them with the appropriate academic climate.
The Director of the Security and Safety Department at Kuwait University Khaled AlYaqout made known that the administration has taken administrative and security measures in preparation for the new academic year 2018/2019. He added that the Security and Safety Department is doing its best to create an appropriate security environment inside Kuwait University for our students throughout the year, in order to ensure security and safety management to create and secure the scientific and academic atmosphere of the faculty, students and staff.

Mr. AlYaqout explained that the department worked on distributing and assigning the organizational tasks and the mechanism of work on the security and supervision personnel to the security officials in the sites in preparation for receiving the large numbers of students at the beginning of the first day. The presence of security and safety supervisors in all university and college locations in order to organize the entrance of cars to the campus parking areas, follow up the personnel and supervisors of the security closely and provide guidance to them. In addition, instructions were issued to the security men and supervisors to pay special attention to the people with special needs, and to provide all available assistance and facilities and to allow them to enter their cars to the nearest position so that they can reach their colleges easily.
Mr. AlYaqout added that department addressed the Ministry of Interior to sort out traffic patrols to organize the traffic in the surrounding roads leading to all the campuses to reduce traffic congestion and not to delay the faculty and students for lectures as well as employees for their work.
On her part, the Director of General Services Department at Kuwait University Ms. Sanabel M. AlDuwaisan confirmed the readiness of the department for the new academic year 2018/2019, indicating that the department has addressed the Ministry of Interior to cooperate and add some instructions concerning new faculty members residency and implementation at the Ministry's service center on campus . The staff of the administration is also equipped to complete the procedures of medical examination and fingerprinting to facilitate the procedures of enrolling the children of new faculty members in government schools and to terminate the procedures for issuance of driving licenses for those who wish to drive.
Ms. AlDuwaisan added that the department has prepared the classrooms in all colleges, student housing in terms of public cleaning works, also equipped theaters and halls in university sites. Furthermore, comprehensive maintenance work was carried out for all audiovisual equipment in the theaters and halls in preparation for the activities of colleges.
She also pointed that the department has equipped and provided buses for the transportation of female students to and from their homes, and the processing and provision of buses to serve the students and transport them between the university's various sites (motorway buses). Also equipped and repaired vehicles with drivers that are assigned to work centers to transfer mail between different sites inside and outside the university. The department also prepared buses and vehicles for scientific trips and field visits to university students for the purpose of study and scientific research.
She stated that the Division of Transportation has paid close attention to the transportation of students with special needs to transport them from their homes and vice versa as well as their movement between the various sites of the university. The division was also prepared to receive students wishing to participate in the transport service through buses to and from their homes. The division has developed a plan to operate mass transport buses in accordance with the needs and schedules of students.
On her part, the Director of Construction and Maintenance Department Eng. Hamida AlKhalidi confirmed that the department represented in the maintenance divisions at all university sites have put a plan during the summer vacation for the maintenance of university buildings, including classrooms, offices, meeting rooms, courtyards, and cafeterias. The division worked continuously during the holiday since the university is empty of its users to complete the work before the beginning of the academic year to receive students and faculty members.
According to Eng. AlKhalidi that one of the works that was completed by the Division of Maintenance on Kifan campus, to name a few, adding more offices foe the new faculty members in the Colleges of Education, Art, and Sharia as well as the renewal of the Council Hall of the College of Arts.
For his part, the Director of Catering Department Mr. Anwar AlRughaib said that department’s plan for the new academic year, the cafeterias, markets, and conference hall were prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Health for the prevention of health by sterilizing all university campuses to ensure cleanliness of the preparation and presentation places.

The Student Bookshop Department is fully prepared for the new academic year 2018/2019, as the director of the Student Bookshop Department Ms. Awatif Hajji said. She also declared that the textbooks for the courses offered in all the scientific departments of the theoretical and practical colleges at the level of university studies and graduate studies have been provided before the start of the study in sufficient time.
She added that the Department is in the process of organizing a book fair for textbooks in both Colleges Science and Engineering on Khalidiyah campus during the period from Sunday 9/9/2018 to Thursday, 20/9/2018 from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm, for the sale of books used in both colleges, at the top of College of Sciences cafeteria 30kh.
Ms. Haji stressed that all students with special needs books are free of charge, and the rest of students books are reduced by 60%.
All students are required to present the university id card and the course schedule to ensure that they receive the support allocated to them. She also indicated that all the colleges have been asked to instruct the students must verify the titles of textbooks before buying.
