Acting Dean of Admission and Registration at Kuwait University, Dr. Reem A. AlJarAllah announced the acceptance of 6186 students of Kuwaitis and children of Kuwaiti mothers, who met the requirements for the first and second semester of 2018/2019. This number of students is distributed to both semesters, 5209 students for the first semester and 977 for the second semester of the academic year of 2018/2019.
The Acting Dean indicated that this number does not include students admitted to foreign and internal scholarships, who preferred to continue their scholarships instead of Kuwait University. Along with students who chose a few of the desires that does not match the equivalent average and the minimum limits of the acceptance process in light of the numbers specified in these majors by the colleges, confirming the possibility of applying for a new application for the next semester on the date to be announced by the Deanship of Admission and Registration later, in accordance with the decision of the University Council which does not allow any modification to the majors specified in the application after the deadline for receiving applications.
Dr. AlJarAllah added that accepting this number of Kuwaiti students and children of Kuwaiti mothers for the first semester was according to a decree issued by the University Council on 11/4/2018, stating that all applicants who obtained 75% and above in the scientific sections and 80% in the literary sections will be admitted, and to postpone the admission of students who obtained 70-74.9% in the scientific section and 78-79.9% in the literary section, for the second semester.
Dr. AlJarAllah assured that the seats given to students at various colleges at KU were strictly based on their high school percentages or their equivalent average and according to the standard college admission, without discriminating between male and female applicants or between Kuwaitis and children of Kuwaiti mothers.
In order to have a clear base for the minimum average accepted percentage in all majors; it has been decided to publish the minimum percentages for all majors for both the first and second semester as indicated in the link http://kuweb.ku.edu.kw/cs/groups/do/documents/ku_content/kuw118681.pdf. Noting that the digital code prior to students' names indicates the accepted majors.
It is according to the decision of the University Council, the majors were chosen for students to be admitted in the second semester for them to know which college they will be enrolled at. Knowing that the second semester will begin on 27/1/2019, as the first semester 2018/2019 will not be calculated as part of their university study period. A date will be assigned later to approve the admission of these students during the first semester 2018/2019
The period for new students’ registration for the courses will be from 17-29/7/2018. Each student will have an appointment for submitting the required documents to approve their acceptance. The Deanship will send an SMS through mobile phones to students informing them on their appointment dates and time of registration. All students should keep into consideration the importance of committing to the given appointment, students have to visit the registration hall in Shuwaikh on their specified appointment date and they will not be allowed in on the same day if they miss their appointment. Knowing that the students do not have to come in person, a representative can come on their behalf with an ID of the registered student and the application form.
Accepted students can check their appointments for registration through the Deanship’s website on http://registrar.ku.edu.kw .Students who fail to attend the appointment assigned for them can complete their registration by the end of the registration period.
All students who are expected to graduate from English system high schools and who have already registered are expected to present their original high school certificates within two days from the announcement of their final results to start their admission process and to arrange their registration appointments.
On this occasion Dr. Reem Al-Jarallah thanked all the representatives and employees of the Admission and Registration Department, and in particular Acting Director of Admission Department, Hind Al-Salem. She also thanked the employees at the Students Information System, employees at the Department of Safety and Security, and all the employees who participated in the registration process for their hard work and their productive participation in collecting the registration forms and distributing each student to different colleges for the academic year of 2018/2019.
