The Minister of Education and Higher Education and the Supreme President of Kuwait University Prof. Hamed Mohammed Al-Azmi chaired the University Council meeting no. (3/2018), on Monday 25th, 6, 2018, in the presence of the President of Kuwait University Prof. Hussein A. AlAnsari, and members of the University Council in Khalidiyah campus.
The Minister announced the approval of the organizational structure of Kuwait University by the Civil Service Commission.
For his part, the Spokesman for Kuwait University, Secretary General Dr. Muthanna T. AlRifae said that the University Council approved the meeting report no. (2/2018) that was held on 11th, 4, 2018. He also reviewed the follow up report on the implementation of the decisions of the University Council in meeting no. (2/2018).
Dr. AlRifae stated that the University Council reviewed the Dean's Selection Committee report for the College of Law, and the Deanship of Admission and Registration, and approved the appointment of:
He added that the Council had approved the proposal of some colleges to renew the contracts of some faculty members, for one year, after exceeding six years in the position of Teacher, in the Article (6/1) of the list of faculty members.
Dr. AlRifae also said that the University Council reviewed the proposal of the College of Pharmacy to transfer a five-year pharmaceutical program and a Diploma in pharmacology (five years in pharmacy and two years) to a seven-year pharmacy program. Where a committee was formed involving the Secretary General of the University, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice President for Health Sciences, and the Dean of College of Pharmacy to complete the necessary procedures and address the relevant official bodies in preparation for biting the subject to the University Council at an upcoming meeting.
Dr. AlRifae declared that the Council accepted the annual reports of the Scientific Publishing Council of Kuwait University for the years (2014/2015- 2015/2016- 2016-2017).
The Council took note of the visual presentation presented by the Office of the Vice President for Planning on the classification of Kuwait University in the 2019 QS classification. The Council approved the formation of the committee to promote the classification of Kuwait University in the international classification institutions. The Committee is headed by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and includes representatives from the Planning Sector, the Research Sector, and from colleges. The Council also agreed on a plan to enhance the classification of Kuwait University. The plan includes the proposed procedures to enhance the classification.
According to Dr. AlRifae, the University Council reviewed the report of the committee to verify the scientific certificates (Masters-PhD) for all faculty members appointed at Kuwait University, besides the university scholarships, pointing out that there are no accredited or fictitious certificates for which faculty members have been appointed.
Dr. AlRifae pointed out that the University Council approved the proposal of some colleges to promote 21 faculty members to the rank of professor and assistant professor from different faculties, 5 from humanitarian and social colleges and 16 from scientific colleges, as follows:
