A delegation from Kuwait University took part in the Seventh International University Debating Championship in its seventh edition, which is was held in the State of Qatar with the participation of over 50 countries this year. The championship took place from the 23rd to 30th of May, 2024. The delegation was led by Acting Dean for Student Affairs Prof. Jasim Al-Hamdan, and consisted of a team of three students: Mr. Abdullah Al-Jaimaz from the College of Arts, Ms. Fatimaa Al-Zahraa Fadhil from the College of Education, and Ms. Noor Salwadi from the College of Allied Medical Science.
In this light, the delegation leader Prof. Jasim Al-Hamdan emphasized that Kuwait University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, is keen on participating in students' competitions and activities due to their impact on students and the investment in their talents, especially since this debate competition is dedicated to establishing a culture of dialogue. Prof. Al-Hamdan also explained that the students' exposure to various cultures contributes to refining and enriching their knowledge, as well as enhancing their awareness by encouraging freedom of expression, open discussions, and constructive dialogue among youths away from futile quarrels and exchanges. He also emphasized Kuwait University students' full preparation to compete following their intensive training to take part in such competitions.
Prof. Al-Hamdan praised the State of Qatar for hosting Kuwait University's delegation, explaining that such an involvement is not a first of its kind among the GCC. He also wished success to the participating team, who are a source of pride as they are considered the finest ambassadors for Kuwait University, looking forward to witness them achieving the first place in this competition.
