Dr. Amani Mustafa Al-Adsani is an assistant professor of Developmental Genetics at the Department of Biological Sciences, College of Science at Kuwait university since 2009 after completing her Ph.D. at Bath University in the UK. Currently Dr. Amani is an academic staff member in the Animal Biology program teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in General biology, Genetics and Developmental Genetics. Her research is directed towards investigating the molecular mechanisms of pancreatic beta cell and retina regeneration in response to natural products using animal models. She is collaborating with several research groups in the department and has supervised several graduate students enrolled in the Joint M.Sc. degree in Molecular Biology and the M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology. Dr. Amani is the supervisor of the the departmental Animal Tissue Culture Unit and Microtechniques Unit. She is also a member of the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals departmental committee and the Faculty of Science Institutional Research Ethics Committee. In 2023, Dr. Amani became the Director of the Biotechnology center (BTC), College of Science. She has earned several scientific awards including:
- Third place best poster award in the Third Scientific Research Conference at Kuwait University, 2024.
- First place winner of Prof. Ahmed Al-Bustan Academic Excellence Award for the outstanding research presented during the International Conference of Biological Sciences (ICOBS) at Kuwait University, 2023.
- First place best poster award in the First Scientific Research Conference at Kuwait University, 2022.
- Third place best poster award in the Third Scientific Poster Day of 2010 at Kuwait University.
- Best poster award in the Third University of Bath Research Conference of 2008.
