Kuwait University Announces the Start of Registration for the KU MARATHON 2

Deanship of Student Affairs at Kuwait University has announced the start of registration for the KU MARATHON 2 running race through the following link:

This sporting event is organized by the Administration of Sports Activities under the patronage and presence of the Acting President of Kuwait University, Prof. Osama Al-Saeed. The event aims to encourage all university members and community individuals to engage in sports and adopt a healthy lifestyle. The race is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Sabah Al-Salem University City, starting from 7 AM until 3 PM.


In this regard, Acting Assistant Dean for Student Activities at the Deanship of Student Affairs, Dr. Salem Al-Shammari, stated that the running race aligns with Kuwait's Vision 2035 and supports sustainable development goals, including good health, quality education, sustainable cities, and partnerships to achieve these objectives. It also aligns with Kuwait University's strategy to foster an environment that promotes creativity and innovation, enhance awareness of the importance of physical activity among community members, encourages them to adopt a healthy lifestyle, ultimately increasing the number of individuals engaged in physical activities. He noted that the event will include a variety of activities and events that allow participants to practice their different hobbies, targeting all members of Kuwait University, including students, academic and administrative staff, as well as the community as a whole.


The race will be held in partnership with the Public Authority for Sport and with support from the Commercial Bank of Kuwait. Several entities will participate in the organization, including various administrations from Kuwait University, governmental institutions, health and sports clubs, as well as sports and health academies, in addition to private hospitals and clinics.


The race will include a variety of activities, featuring a 5 km running race. All participants will receive shirts and numbers, along with commemorative medals. There will also be a showcase cycling tour in collaboration with the Kuwaiti Cycling Club, as well as interactive areas. Additionally, there will be sports demonstrations, games, and service areas offering cafés, snacks, and free bottled water for all attendees.
The race is open to all age groups, including men and women aged 18 to 35, those aged 35 and above, and individuals with disabilities, with categories specified according to the type of disability.
