
A delegation from Kuwait University participated in the Gulf Cybersecurity Forum 2025, which was held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 in the capital of Qatar, Doha, under the slogan “Building Capacities and Competencies in Educational Cybersecurity” in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education, with the aim of exchanging experiences between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and raising awareness of the importance of cybersecurity in the educational sector.
The delegation was headed by Acting Vice Dean for Student Activities at the Deanship of Student Affairs, Dr. Salem Al-Shammari, accompanied by the Supervisor of the Department of Cultural and Artistic Activities, Naifa Al-Shammari.
The forum witnessed the win of student Abdullah Al-Mekhial from Kuwait University with the Research Poster Award for his research entitled “The Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies to Detect Drones Breaches”.
In this regard, Dr. Salem Al-Shammari highlighted the importance of the forum as a vital platform that brings together cybersecurity experts and specialists from the Gulf countries to discuss the latest developments and technologies in the field, noting the need to enhance joint Gulf efforts to ensure the protection of data and information in light of the increasing digital challenges.
Dr. Al-Shammari also addressed the role of youth in facing future challenges, stressing that their participation in such events enhances their capabilities, qualifying them to be a true investment leading to a safer future.
He congratulated student Abdullah Al-Mekhial from Kuwait University on winning the research poster award, and considered this an example of the excellence of Gulf youth in this field.
At the conclusion of the forum, the heads of participating delegations and a number of prominent figures were honored, in addition to the Gulf teams that won the Cybersecurity Maneuver Competition. Kuwait University delegation took the opportunity to extend their thanks and appreciation to the State of Qatar for the warm reception and excellent organization of the forum.
