As part of the cultural and academic activities organized by the College of Architecture at Kuwait University, the Department of Visual and Interior Design hosted a lecture titled “Arabic Motion Design: Between Identity and Innovation”, delivered by visiting scholar Dr. Jawad Khajawi, an expert in visual design and motion media from Fulda University – Norway. The lecture, supervised by Dr. Iman Al-Shawwaf, was part of a series of lectures delivered by Dr. Khajawi during his visit to the college, and was held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, and attended by faculty members and students from the department.

The lecture emphasized the importance of integrating Arab visual elements into motion design and explored how Arabic calligraphy, Islamic ornamentation, and cultural symbols can be incorporated into modern digital works. These elements, when effectively used, bridge the gap between technological advancement and the preservation of authentic Arab visual identity.

The lecture presented notable examples of outstanding Arabic works in the field of motion graphics, in addition to showcasing promising student projects that blend modern techniques with traditional artistic vision. The lecturer also addressed the challenges faced by Arab designers in the digital job market and highlighted the need to support Arab visual content in media and digital platforms.

During his visit, Dr. Khajawi toured several student classes, where students presented their projects and received constructive feedback and suggestions aimed at further developing their work.
His visit also included a research workshop for academic staff of the Visual and Interior Design Department, which focused on key issues in academia and explored ways to enhance research output and foster innovative skills among faculty members and designers.

At the conclusion of the visit, Dr. Amaar Behbehani, Acting Head of the Department of Visual and Interior Design, honored Dr. Jawad Khajawi in appreciation of his valuable and enriching visit to the college.
