VDAA and OAA Workshop Held, titled "Procedure and Practices for Complying with ABET Continuous Improvement Requirements for Engineering Programs"

The Office of the Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs, Research & Graduate
Studies and the Office of Academic Assessment held a workshop on
Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 2 PM in the College of

Engineering and Petroleum Meeting Room, titled “Procedure and Practices
for complying with ABET continuous improvement requirements for
engineering programs”.
The Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Research & Graduate Studies Dr.
Abdullah Alajmi opened the workshop welcoming everyone and thanking
them for their attendance and their great contribution on the college's
ongoing academic assessment efforts as part of the college's push for
ABET reaccreditation of all seven programs of the College. The workshop
was presented by the Director of the Office of Academic Assessment, Dr.
Muhammad Tariq Chaudhary, and was attended by KU-CEPDepartment
Chairmen, and departmental UPC and Assessment Coordinators.
The workshop presented an overview of the student outcome assessment
process, detailing the entire assessment evidentiary chain starting from
data collection to proper analysis, handling, and written presentation of
academic assessment data.Specifically, the workshop focused on the
continuous improvement process and the methods of documenting this
process with properly curated supporting evidence.
All engineering programs at Kuwait University have been accredited by
ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission since 2008. The College of
Engineering and Petroleum remains dedicated to the continuous
improvement of its programs as part of the accreditation process, driven by
a belief in the centrality of active pursuit and maintenance of academic
excellence. To support these efforts, the Vice Dean’s Office and the Office
of Academic Assessment have been overseeing and coordinating the
college’s initiative to secure reaccreditation ahead of the upcoming ABET
accreditation visit in Fall 2025.
