According to the QS Sustainable Development Goals 2025 in its Third Edition for World University Rankings Kuwait University Achieves First Place Locally and 550th Globally Among the Best Universities in the World in Terms of Sustainability

Kuwait University achieved first place locally and 550th globally according to the QS Sustainable Development Goals 2025 in its third edition for World University Rankings in terms of sustainability among 1744 universities around this year, which is based on evaluating the various measures taken by universities to deal with global challenges in environmental, social and governance issues, with an increase of 343 universities over last year. 
The QS Sustainable Development Ranking is based on three main criteria, the first criterion includes the environmental impact under which 3 sub-indicators fall and represents 45% of the total ranking, the second criterion includes social impact under which 5 sub-indicators fall and represents 45%, while the third and final criterion includes good governance and represents 10% of the total ranking.
In this regard, Acting Vice President for Planning, Prof. Osama Al-Omair, stated that this achievement reflects Kuwait University's continuous efforts to follow sustainability standards and preserve the environment. Kuwait University has succeeded in obtaining the accreditation certificate for Sabah Al-Salem University City as a healthy city, as its design was made according to international standards that support sustainability, making the university environment an ideal environment for implementing strategies and programs that aim to enhance sustainability in all its dimensions.
He added that Kuwait University is distinguished by its research activity in environmental, societal and economic sustainability research, in line with the vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect him and grant him peace, on the necessity of sponsoring scientific research, which enhances its position in global competitiveness indicators. 
Prof. Al-Omair stressed that this classification is an incentive to develop and improve the university's performance, as Kuwait University continuously dedicates its efforts to improve its contribution to accomplish sustainable development goals.
