
A delegation from Kuwait University participated in the 10th Gulf Sports Tournament for students of universities and higher education institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, held in the Omani capital, Muscat, during the period from January 17 to 25, organized by Sultan Qaboos University. This tournament comes as a continuation of a series of sports tournaments launched by universities and higher education institutions in the GCC countries under the umbrella of the General Secretariat of the Council, and aims to enhance Gulf cohesion among students, and affirm the spirit of national belonging, in addition to deepening the sense of unity and exchange of experiences, while igniting the spirit of competition and giving.
The participation of the Kuwait University delegation includes a group of sports games such as badminton, table tennis, swimming, football, basketball, and athletics.
In this regard, Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Jassim Al-Hamdan, stated that the tournament aims to empower students athletically and prepare them to represent their institutions in sports forums, which contributes to developing their talents and abilities, explaining that Gulf universities represent a major tributary to national teams in various sports, pointing out the importance of exchanging sports experiences between students, coaches and administrators from the Gulf countries.
Prof. Al-Hamdan added that the tournament comes in implementation of the decisions of the presidents and directors of universities and higher education institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as it is held every two years and includes a variety of sports with the aim of strengthening fraternal ties and promoting healthy competition among students.
