In Strengthening Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange with International Research Institutions, The Research Sector Receives Delegation from the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP)

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance Kuwait University's standing through active communication and exchange of expertise with local and international research institutions, Dr. Haneen Al-Ghabra, Assistant Vice President for Research Funding and Implementation, welcomed a delegation from the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) on Thursday, February 13, 2025. The meeting was attended by Dr. Suzanne Al-Bustan, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Research, and Graduate Studies, Dr. Zaid Hussein, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Dr. Hala Al-Jassar, Head of the Department of Physics, a number of academic staff and researchers affiliated with ICTP, as well as representatives from the Strategic Partnerships Department at Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), including Mr. Jaber Al-Sabah and Ms. Ahed Al-Asousi.


This visit was organized in collaboration with KFAS and brought together a group of researchers and individuals passionate about scientific research, including leadership from the College of Science and the College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University.

The visiting delegation included, Prof. Atish Dabholkar, Director of ICTP, Prof. Rosario Fazio, Head of the Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics Section, and Prof. Marco Zennaro, Head of the Science, Technology and Innovation Unit.

The primary objective of the visit was to gain insight into key academic and research projects at Kuwait University and explore opportunities for scientific collaboration and knowledge exchange in support of research aligned with national priorities. The visit also aimed to strengthen ties between ICTP and scientific institutions in the State of Kuwait. Discussions included potential avenues for coordination and scientific cooperation between Kuwait University and ICTP in research areas of mutual interest.
