
The E-Learning Center at Kuwait University organized an official event to launch the Virtual Reality Lab, held in the atrium of the Central Library at Sabah Al-Salem University City. The event was attended by Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs and Support Services, Prof. Mohammad Ali Al-Mulla, Assistant Vice President for Academic Support Services for Information Technology, Dr. Zainab Al-Bader, and Ms. Etemad Al-Kandari, Director of the E-Learning Center (under the Office of the Assistant Vice President for Academic Support Services – IT Sector) and Acting Director of the Center for Community Service and Continuing Education at Kuwait University.
Also in attendance were department heads, faculty members, and students. During the event, Dr. Abdullah Al-Failakawi, a faculty member from the College of Education, delivered a lecture titled “Virtual Reality Lab Experience in Educational Technology,” where he highlighted the role of modern technologies in enhancing educational processes.
In his speech, Prof. Mohammad Al-Mulla emphasized Kuwait University’s ongoing commitment to enriching its educational experience by integrating emerging technologies into academic curricula. He praised a presentation delivered by the College of Education, which demonstrated the use of ICT-based curricula and methods for managing high-enrollment course hours. He also stressed the importance of utilizing information technology in education as a step toward academic excellence, expressing his hope that this initiative, led by Dr. Al-Failakawi and Ms. Al-Kandari, would continue to thrive, thanking all those involved for their efforts.
From her side, Ms. Etemad Al-Kandari announced the official opening of the Virtual and Augmented Reality Lab, which was established through joint efforts by the E-Learning Center and with support from the support sector under the Office of the Assistant Vice President for Information Technology Affairs. She highlighted the lab as a vital tool in keeping pace with technological advancements in education, enhancing learning experiences through the integration of VR and AR technologies. She noted that the lab is open to all faculty members across all departments at Kuwait University and encouraged active participation to maximize its potential. She also expressed hope that the technology will be expanded across all colleges in the future.
Ms. Al-Kandari gave special thanks to Dr. Abdullah Al-Failakawi for his collaboration with students in the Educational Technology course, noting how their experience with the lab enriched the educational process. She emphasized the importance of generalizing this experience to benefit all colleges and faculty members and commended the collective efforts made to achieve this milestone.
This initiative, backed by all stakeholders, sets a prime example of how modern technologies can be leveraged to enhance academic instruction—opening new horizons for both students and educators at Kuwait University.
