
. Sabah Al-Salem University City witnesses a national celebration in honor of the national holidays, with the participation of various state sectors.
Prof. Al-Mailem: We take pride in the high patronage and continuous support from the wise leadership for Kuwait University to be an educational environment that fosters creativity and innovation.
Al-Aqel: We are confident that Kuwait University is capable of achieving more accomplishments through the efforts and dedication of its leaders and students.
Amid a large academic, artistic, and media presence, Sabah Al-Salem University City witnessed a distinguished national celebration, reflecting the meanings of unity and solidarity among the people of Kuwait. The event was held under the patronage and presence of the President of Kuwait University, Prof. Dina M. Al-Mailem. Kuwait University organized the celebration of the 64th National Day and the 34th Liberation Day, under the slogan " a symbol of pride and a foundation for knowledge " This event coincided with Kuwait's activities as the Capital of Arab Culture and Media for the year 2025, and took place on Wednesday morning, February 19, 2025.
The celebration was attended by Acting Secretary-General of Kuwait University, Prof Meshari Al-Aifan, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the "VO" platform, Sheikha Ahood Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, the Economic Advisor to the Embassy of the Republic of Chad, Ibrahim Shuaib, Kuwaiti artist Abdul Rahman Aqel, as well as Kuwait University leadership, deans of colleges, academic and supporting academic staff, and administrative staff from various colleges, departments, and centers of Kuwait University. Additionally, various government entities and institutions, as well as the private sector, were represented by external supporters of the event. The celebration also received unlimited support from strategic partners, including Kuwait Finance House, Mobile Telecommunications Company (Zain), National Bank of Kuwait ( NBK), Tam Bank, and Weyay Bank.
On this occasion, the President of Kuwait University, Prof. Dina M. Al-Mailem, extended her heartfelt congratulations to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, may God protect him, and to His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect him, and to the people of Kuwait on the occasion of the 64th National Day and the 34th Liberation Day. She said, "We take pride in the high patronage and continuous support from the wise leadership for Kuwait University, to be an educational environment that fosters creativity and innovation as part of its commitment to developing the higher education sector in the country, believing that the strength of the nation lies in its scientific progress and investment in its youth." She pointed out that the youth play a major role in the nation's prosperity, as they are its beating heart and fundamental pillar. Through knowledge and education, we achieve its advancement, and with creativity and innovation, we shape its future.
Prof. Al-Mailem emphasized that the national celebration organized by Kuwait University in honor of the national holidays under the slogan " a symbol of pride and a foundation for knowledge " reaffirms the university's national role as an essential partner in building a national community and a major contributor to preparing national cadres to lead the country's development. She stated, "On this national day, we celebrate our beloved country and proudly remember its rich history and remarkable achievements. We are aware of our role and responsibilities in building the future of this nation and elevating its status among nations." She further explained that love for the country is demonstrated through sincere work, active participation in development, and preserving its resources. She also expressed her pride in the achievement of engineering graduate Mariam Moayed Al-Rifai, who recently won second place among the top ten students in civil engineering globally by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Engineer Mariam Al-Rifaie also delivered a speech during the event.
In a remarkable artistic participation, Kuwaiti artist Abdul Rahman Al-Aqel said, "Today is a celebration for Kuwait and all Kuwaitis. There is no substitute for this beloved homeland. Despite my health conditions, I feel it's my duty to answer the call of joining this celebration among the students of Kuwait University at this esteemed academic institution. We congratulate everyone who contributed to achieving distinguished accomplishments to raise Kuwait’s name high, and we are confident that Kuwait University can achieve more milestones through the efforts of its leaders and students."
The event began with the national anthem of Kuwait, accompanied by a cultural, national and musical, and entertainment activities in cooperation with various government and private sector entities. The Ministry of Education participated with a segment for young scouts, presented by Dr. Anwar Al-Ibrahim, a faculty member at the College of Engineering and Petroleum.
Several faculty members from various colleges, along with students from Kuwait University and the Ministry of Education, participated in various competitions and segments showcasing popular, national, and musical performances. A patriotic poetry segment was presented by prof. Husain Al-Ansari, a faculty member at the College of Social Sciences and former President of Kuwait University. This was followed by a musical performance (playing the oud) by Ahmed Al-Sultan, a student from the College of Administrative Sciences, and a patriotic song titled "Min Fawq Al-Sawari" by singer Mashaal.
Additionally, a national and heritage exhibition was held alongside the celebration, showcasing Kuwait's rich history, achievements, and urban development. Several governmental and institutional entities participated, including the Public Authority for Youth, the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army, the Ministry of the Interior, the Kuwait Fire Force, the Public Authority for the Environment, the United Nations, the Ministry of Information, Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Kuwait National Library of Kuwait, the Kuwait Public Transport Company, and the Kuwait Red Crescent Society.
In recognition of their contributions, Prof. Dina M. Al-Mailem, Acting Secretary-General of Kuwait University, Prof Meshari Al-Aifan, and the university’s leadership honored the participants in the celebration, as well as the supporting entities and official sponsors: Kuwait Finance House, Mobile Telecommunications Company (Zain), National Bank of Kuwait, Tam Bank, Weyay Bank, and artists Abdul Rahman Al-Aqal and Mashael, for their unwavering support in commemorating this great national occasion.
The celebration concluded with a student national march, by Kuwait University students, scholarship students, and scouts from the Ministry of Education, reflecting the spirit of joy, pride, and love for the dear homeland.
It is worth mentioning that the event was organized by the Public Relations and Media Department to strengthen the bonds of cooperation among the university community and foster a sense of belonging to our beloved country.
