Under the patronage of the President of Kuwait University, Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem, the Acting Dean of the College of Graduate Studies, Prof. Ahmad Abdullah Al-Mekhyal, announced that the college’s Office of Consultation and Training will host the “Three Minute Thesis (3MT)” competition for the first time on a local level at Kuwait University. The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Conference Center Hall at Sabah Al-Salem University City.

Prof. Al-Mekhyal noted that the idea of organizing this competition at Kuwait University emerged after the College of Graduate Studies participated in the 2024 edition of the competition hosted by the State of Qatar, which included 12 universities from the Gulf region. Despite it being Kuwait University's first participation, the college secured first place. This success inspired the decision to launch the competition locally to further develop students' academic, presentation, and research communication skills, as well as enhance their ability to explain their research effectively and concisely.

He emphasized that the goal of the “Three Minute Thesis (3MT)” competition is to showcase research creativity under the challenge of time. Graduate students will present their theses in an engaging and simplified manner within just three minutes, making it easily understandable for a general, non-specialist audience. The competition aims to develop academic skills, strengthen research communication, support students’ ability to articulate their work clearly in accessible language, and promote research excellence and quality at Kuwait University, while encouraging students to pursue scientific excellence.
