The College of Science Hosts an Orientation Session for Field Training of Participants in the “Partners for Employment” Initiative for Persons with Disabilities in the Laboratories of KU In Collaboration with KFAS

As an important step toward promoting collaboration, social inclusion, and employment for persons with disabilities, the College of Science at Kuwait University hosted the orientation session for field training of participants in the “Partners for Employment” initiative. The session was organized under the umbrella of the Research Sector at Kuwait University and took place in the laboratories of the College of Science / College of Engineering and Petroleum / College of Life Sciences.
The event was attended by Dr. Mohammad Hussein Bin Sabt – Acting Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Suzan Ahmad Al-Bustan – Acting Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Research, and Graduate Studies, Dr. Faris Marzouq Al-Azmi – Acting Vice Dean for Planning, Consultation, and Training, Ms. Afnan Al-Husseini – Assistant Undersecretary for the Educational Sector at the Public Authority for the Disabled, Prof. Mai Al-Bader – Vice President for Research at Kuwait University, Prof. Nouria Mohammad Al-Kandari – Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation, Esteemed Deans of the Colleges of Engineering and Petroleum, and Life Sciences, Ms. Nada Al-Fares – Representative of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), Eng. Awatif Al-Sulaiman – Representative of Human Construction Society for Social Development, and Ms. Iman Saleh Al-Kharashi – Acting Administrative Director.

This session aimed to highlight the importance of field training as a key tool to develop the skills of initiative participants from persons with disabilities, thereby enhancing their employment opportunities across various sectors, using cutting-edge technologies and resources available in the laboratories of Kuwait University.
Prof. Nouria Al-Kandari, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation, expressed her delight in this orientation session for the training plan of the “Scientific Laboratory Technician Assistant” program, one of the projects under the “Partners for Employment” initiative. She noted that it represents a new and distinguished starting point for persons with disabilities.
She emphasized that the project reflects a deep belief in their capabilities and the importance of empowering them through training and qualification to open broader horizons for them in society and the labor market.
Prof. Dr. Al-Kandari explained that this collaboration highlights the pivotal role of the university's colleges in achieving a comprehensive vision that strengthens the partnership between the university and the community.
She extended her sincere gratitude to the participating colleges that demonstrated strong cooperation and supported the success of this initiative. The College of Science welcomed 12 trainees into its laboratories (Department of Biological Sciences / Department of Marine Sciences / Department of Physics), while the College of Engineering and Petroleum and the College of Life Sciences each received 4 trainees. In total, 20 trainees from our valued participants in the “Partners for Employment” initiative took part in the program.
She also expressed her deep appreciation to Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) for its generous support, which significantly contributed to turning this project into a practical reality. She added that this support reflects the Foundation's pioneering role in enabling scientific and developmental initiatives.
For his part, Dr. Mohammad Bin Sabt – Acting Dean of the College of Science – affirmed the importance of this collaboration between the University and various institutions, praising the active and supportive role of Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) in supporting initiatives that contribute to the training of our students.
He pointed out that such programs open broad horizons to realize the principle of providing employment opportunities, qualifying, and empowering this segment to work and serve the nation, and enhancing the rights of persons with disabilities in line with the New Kuwait Vision 2035 and the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
He added that the College of Science has always been and continues to be committed to serving all segments of society by offering a variety of training programs and providing unwavering support to serve the community.
It is worth noting that this initiative marks a new step within the framework of the State of Kuwait’s commitment to providing full support for persons with disabilities and offering educational and training opportunities that contribute to their effective integration into the labor market in Kuwait.
