In an important step towards enhancing cooperation and social and employment integration for people with disabilities, the College of Science at Kuwait University hosted an introductory meeting for field training for members of the "Partners for Employment" initiative under the umbrella of the Research Sector at Kuwait University in the laboratories of Kuwait University represented by the College of Science, the College of Engineering and Petroleum, and the College of Life Sciences, in the presence of Vice President for Research at Kuwait University, Prof. Mai Al-Bader, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultations, Prof. Nouria Al-Kandari, Acting Dean of the College of Science, Dr. Muhammad Hussein Bin Sabt, Acting Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Research and Graduate Studies, Prof. Suzanne Ahmed Al-Bustan, Acting Vice Dean for Planning, Consultations and Training, Dr. Fares Marzouq Al-Azmi, and Ms. Afnan Al-Hussaini, Assistant Undersecretary for the Education Sector at the Public Authority for the Affairs of the Disabled, among deans of the colleges of Engineering and Petroleum, and Life Sciences, and Ms. Nada Al-Fares - Representative of Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), Engineer Awatif Al-Sulaiman - Representative of the Human Construction Society for Social Development, and Ms. Iman Saleh Al-Kharashi - Acting Administrative Director. 
This meeting aimed to shed light on the importance of field training as a basic tool for developing the skills of the initiative's members with disabilities, which contributes to enhancing their employment opportunities in various sectors through the latest technologies and resources available at Kuwait University laboratories. 
Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation, Prof. Nouria Al-Kandari, expressed her happiness in this introductory meeting regarding the training plan for the Scientific Laboratory Technician Assistant Program, one of the projects of the "Partners for Employment" initiative, noting that it is a new and distinguished starting point for people with disabilities. 
Prof. Al-Kandari also confirmed that the project reflects the deep belief in their capabilities and the importance of their empowerment through training and rehabilitation to widen horizons for their engagement in society and the labor market. Prof. Al-Kandari said that this cooperation highlights the pivotal role of colleges in achieving a comprehensive vision that enhances the partnership between the university and the community.
She extended her sincere thanks to the colleges participating in the project, which showed great cooperation and supported the success of this initiative, as the College of Science received (12) trainees in its laboratories (Department of Biological Sciences / Department of Marine Sciences / Department of Physics), the College of Engineering and Petroleum received (4) trainees, and the College of Life Sciences received (4) trainees in its laboratories, with a total of (20) trainees as members of the "Partners of Employment" initiative. 
She also extended her sincere thanks and appreciation to Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) for its generous support, which contributed greatly to brining this project to reality, adding that this support reflects the pioneering role played by the Foundation in enabling scientific and development initiatives. 
For his part, Dr. Mohammed bin Sabt, Acting Dean of the College of Science, stressed the importance of this cooperation between the university and various institutions, praising the active and supportive role of Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) in supporting initiatives that contribute to training our students. He also praised the fact that such programs open up broad horizons to achieve the principle of providing job opportunities to qualify and enable people with disabilities to work and serve the country and enhance their rights in line with the vision of New Kuwait 2035 and the sustainable development goals of the United Nations Agenda 2030, adding that the College of Science has always sought to serve society in all its categories by providing various training programs and spares no effort in providing support to serve society. 
It is worth noting that this initiative represents a new step within the framework of Kuwait's commitment to providing full support to persons with disabilities and providing training and educational opportunities that contribute to their effective integration into the labor market in Kuwait.
