College of Science Concludes Field Training Program for “Partners in Their Employment” Initiative for Persons with Disabilities in Collaboration with KFAS and the Human Construction Society for Social Development

Under the patronage of Kuwait University President, Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem, the College of Science concluded the field training program for members of the “Partners in Their Employment” initiative for persons with disabilities. The program aimed to support and promote the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in both academic and professional communities. It was implemented in cooperation with the College of Engineering and Petroleum, the College of Life Sciences, Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), and the Human Construction Society for Social Development.
The closing ceremony was attended by Sheikha Sheikha Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, Honorary President of the Kuwait Disabled Sports Club; Prof. Suzanne Ahmed Al-Bustan, Acting Dean of the College of Science; Prof. Amina Rajab Farhan, Director of KFAS; Mr. Khalifa Fahad Al-Ghanem, Chairman of the Human Construction Society; Her Excellency Ambassador Ghada Al-Taher, Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Kuwait; Dr. Ghaleb Mohammed Al-Oseimi, Vice Chairman of the Human Construction Society; Dr. Fares Marzouq Al-Azmi, Acting Vice Dean for Planning, Consultation, and Training – College of Science; Dr. Abdulaziz Suleiman Al-Sanafi, Acting Vice Dean for Student Affairs – College of Science; Prof. Ahmed Al-Lafi, Acting Dean of the College of Life Sciences; Dr. Abdullah Al-Ajmi, Acting Vice Dean for Academic and Research Affairs – College of Engineering and Petroleum; Dr. Hanadi Mohammed Abdulsalam, Acting Vice Dean for Academic and Research Affairs – College of Life Sciences; Dr. Tareq Ibrahim Al-Rasheed, Director of the Nanoscope Scientific Center – College of Science; and Ms. Iman Saleh Al-Kharashi, Acting Administrative Director – College of Science.

On this occasion, Dr. Amina Farhan, Director General of KFAS, expressed her joy at attending the graduation ceremony of the first class of trainees under the program “One Community, Several Talents”, explaining that the program has opened new horizons and brightened opportunities to discover the unique capabilities of Kuwait’s promising youth. It empowered them to contribute meaningfully to the scientific community and labor market.
Dr. Farhan stated, “What we are witnessing today is the fruitful result of tireless efforts made to empower this exceptional group of trainees, who have proven that strong will and firm determination can achieve the impossible.” She noted their spirit of creativity and resilience and praised their ability to overcome challenges and excel both scientifically and practically.
She emphasized that Kuwait takes pride in its citizens with disabilities, who are not merely graduates, but future leaders and a source of inspiration for society. Their success marks a step toward a more inclusive community where opportunities are available for all without exception.
Dr. Farhan concluded by extending heartfelt congratulations to all graduates and appreciation to Kuwait University, especially the College of Science, and everyone involved in the program. She encouraged the graduates, saying: “You are our pride. Kuwait celebrates your achievements, and we are confident you will continue your journey of excellence and contribution—today, tomorrow, and always. Congratulations on this milestone; the future is bright ahead of you.
For her part, Prof. Suzanne Ahmed Al-Bustan, Acting Dean of the College of Science, expressed her happiness at witnessing such a special day celebrating the achievements realized through the “Partners in Their Employment” initiative, conducted in Kuwait University laboratories in collaboration with KFAS and the Human Construction Society for Social Development.
She affirmed that the initiative aligns with Kuwait University’s mission to provide full support to all community members seeking positive change in their professional and social lives. Through this initiative, the university offers an educational and technological environment that equips participants with the skills and knowledge needed for meaningful participation in the national workforce, thereby promoting inclusion and social equity.
Prof. Al-Bustan explained that the training began on January 6, 2025, and continued until February 24, 2025, featuring diverse training activities across three main colleges—Science, Engineering and Petroleum, and Life Sciences. These colleges provided unique educational settings where participants were trained in cutting-edge technologies, helping them develop practical and scientific skills that enhance their future employment opportunities.
She extended sincere thanks and appreciation to KFAS for its vital role in supporting innovation and development initiatives, and to Prof. Nouria Mohammed Al-Kandari, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation, for her generous support of the initiative. She also acknowledged the Research Sector for its wise guidance and instrumental role in overcoming challenges, reflecting Kuwait University’s commitment to academic and professional collaboration for the benefit of society.
From his side, Dr. Ghaleb Mohammed Al-Oseimi, Vice Chairman of the Human Construction Society, emphasized that the initiative falls within the society’s vision to enhance economic independence for persons with disabilities by providing specialized vocational training and sustainable job opportunities. He noted the society’s success in securing employment for 82% of graduates across various public and private sector partnerships.
Dr. Al-Oseimi added that the sixth class included 120 trainees, bringing the total number of participants to 258 across six classes since the initiative’s launch in 2019, supported by KFAS and the Public Authority for Minors Affairs. He expressed pride in the initiative, which has empowered determined and resilient youth with disabilities who now serve as role models in the community.
He concluded by thanking Her Excellency the Minister of Social Affairs for her continued support of disability initiatives, as well as the Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities, and he extended heartfelt appreciation to the graduates and their families:
“Your journey was filled with challenges, but you proved that determination and perseverance are the keys to success. Today, as we honor your achievements, we affirm that you are more than graduates—you are a beacon of inspiration and an example for others to follow.”
