In line with Kuwait's Vision 2035 to support the empowerment of women, Kuwait University, represented by the College of Life Sciences, hosted the Academy X initiative organized by the Coded Academy. The initiative aims to empower female students in the fields of technology and entrepreneurship using artificial intelligence. It is a non-profit initiative that provides valuable opportunities for students, enabling them to contribute to shaping the future of Kuwait's technological and entrepreneurial landscape.
This initiative comes at a time when the world is undergoing profound transformations across various sectors, increasing the demand for advanced technical and entrepreneurial skills.
At the outset, Hashim Behbehani, the co-founder of "Coded," expressed his happiness with the launch of the second year of Academy X, a step that reflects the renewal and expansion of the initiative after its success last year. He added, "This year, we aim to increase the number of participating students from 300 to 500, which enhances our role in empowering Kuwaiti women in the fields of technology and entrepreneurship through teaching the basics of artificial intelligence and developing smart applications, in addition to providing practical experience in entrepreneurship. We are committed to preparing a generation of innovators capable of building tech startups and leading the digital future."
This initiative exemplifies the private sector's engagement in supporting community projects, as it is generously sponsored by Burgan Bank, Zain Telecommunications Company, Agility, Talabat, and K-NET, with media sponsorship from Kuwait News and Kuwait Times, and digital sponsorship from Add Effect.
For her part, Dr. Hanadi Abdul Salam, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Research, and Graduate Studies at the College of Life Sciences, affirmed Kuwait University's commitment to empowering women and enhancing their role in the technology and entrepreneurship sectors through its strategic partnership with the Academy X initiative, believing in the importance of supporting ambitious girls and equipping them with the skills that enable them to succeed in the world of innovation.
It is worth noting that this initiative includes teaching female students the basics of artificial intelligence to develop smart applications and technical concepts, in addition to providing practical experience in entrepreneurship, where they learn problem-solving skills and methods for creating tech startups.
