Research Sector Announces Winners of Scientific Research Awards for the 2024/2025 Academic Year

Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem, President of Kuwait University, has officially approved the final recommendations of the high-level committees overseeing the Research Sector Awards — including the Distinguished Researcher Award, the Best Young Researcher Award, and the Graduate Student Research Excellence Award — for the academic year 2024/2025.
On this occasion, Prof. Mai Dawoud Al-Bader, Acting Vice President for Research, extended her sincere appreciation to all committee members for their dedicated efforts in reviewing and evaluating the submitted applications. She then announced the names of the award recipients, wishing them continued success in their research journeys.

Winners of the Distinguished Researcher Award in Basic and Applied Sciences
•    Prof. Weliyas Masocha, Department of Applied Pharmacology – College of Pharmacy
•    Dr. Esraa Abdulwahab Al-Eisa, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Systems – College of Engineering and Petroleum
•    Dr. Osama Ali Al-Omair, Department of Petroleum Engineering – College of Engineering and Petroleum
Note: The Distinguished Researcher Award in the field of Arts and Humanities and the Best Young Researcher Award were withheld this year.

Dr. Nasser Faisal Al-Tannak, Assistant Vice President for Research Analysis and Development, congratulated the winning faculty members and graduate students, wishing them further academic success.
He emphasized that scientific research is a cornerstone of national development and remains a top priority for universities worldwide, noting that the achievements of these researchers contribute significantly to enhancing Kuwait University's academic and research standing — both locally and internationally. He also pointed out that the awarded research projects addressed real societal challenges, offering scientific and practical solutions.
Dr. Al-Tannak praised the high-level committees for their rigorous work and dedication in evaluating the nominations, adding that their commitment and scholarly expertise ensured the selection of the most deserving winners in each category.
He concluded by expressing his hope that these prestigious awards will serve as a powerful incentive for Kuwait University researchers to continue participating in this distinguished program — a key pillar of the Research Sector in advancing the university’s research mission.
