College of Allied Medical Sciences Hosts "One Language" Forum to Enhance Cooperation between Medical Specialties and Develop Interprofessional Education

The Department of Physiotherapy in the College of Allied Medical Sciences at Kuwait University held a forum entitled "One Language", which aims to enhance cooperation between medical specialties. The forum witnessed the participation of several local, Gulf and international academic bodies, with the participation of Dr. Mansour Al-Otaibi from the Northern Border University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Dr. Yasmine Muzaal from MC Master University in Canada.
For her part, Dr. Sherifa Al-Mutairi, a faculty member in the Department of Physiotherapy, confirmed that interprofessional education is a very valuable experience for universities as it provides future healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge which they need to provide high-quality, patient-centered care, noting that by prioritizing interprofessional education, universities can contribute to a more collaborative and effective healthcare system. 
In the same context, Dr. Anwar Al-Mutairi gave a lecture entitled "Interprofessional Education at Kuwait University", addressing the most prominent activities organized by the Interprofessional Education Committee at the Medical Sciences Center, which included a treasure hunt game for students of the Medical Sciences Center in cooperation with the College of Pharmacy and the College of Allied Medical Sciences and its four diverse departments. 
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Al-Hashemi gave a lecture entitled "Evaluation Strategies to Ensure Interprofessional Education", where he spoke about the latest evaluation methods for clinical training students in hospitals using more than one specialty at the same time. 
In the same context, a faculty member in the Department of Physiotherapy, Dr. Latifa Al-Anezi held a discussion session for faculty members from various specializations discussing their experiences with interdisciplinary education for students, referring to their experiences in cooperation between medical specializations, whether in the clinical or research field, presenting the most prominent practical difficulties at the university and suggestions that enable its implementation at Kuwait University, stressing that the most evident obstacle to implementing interdisciplinary education is the lack of capabilities, the most important of which is time and the lack of infrastructure to implement it at the university, adding that everything mentioned in the forum and workshop was summarized to benefit from it in the future.
