The President of Kuwait University honored the graduate, Engineer Maryam Al-Rifaie, in recognition of her scientific and academic achievements in elevating Kuwait's name globally.

In recognition of Kuwait University's role in academically preparing promising youth and creating a supportive and nurturing environment for its students, the President of Kuwait University, Prof. Dina M. Al-Mailem, welcomed the graduate from the College of Engineering and Petroleum, Engineer Maryam Moayed Al-Rifai. She was selected as one of the top ten students in civil engineering in the world by the American Society of Civil Engineers in the United States. The honor was presented on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the university's administration building, as a tribute to her scientific and academic efforts, which led to this outstanding achievement, making her a source of pride for her country and her generation, and an excellent representative of Kuwait at the international level.
Prof. Al-Mailem began by warmly welcoming Engineer Maryam Al-Rifaie, saying: "It is with great pride and honor that we see a graduate of this academic institution representing Kuwait on the global stage, as the first Kuwaiti and Gulf woman to be included in the list of the top ten students in civil engineering worldwide. Any success and excellence by students is a success for Kuwait University and the State of Kuwait." She further highlighted that Kuwait University continues to exert every effort in providing unlimited support to its students by ensuring that all available resources are used to overcome any challenges they may face in their academic and professional journeys. She also emphasized that the university's doors will remain open for its students even after their graduation, to support their academic and professional paths and help them integrate into the labor market.
In her turn, Engineer Maryam Al-Rifaie expressed her pride in being part of this distinguished academic institution, saying: "I am proud to be a daughter of this prestigious institution, and I belong to an esteemed university like Kuwait University. I thank all those involved in the College of Engineering and Petroleum, including the faculty members and deans, for their continuous support and their consistent efforts through their tangible collaboration in assisting students throughout their academic journey, which has allowed me to be the best representative of my beloved country." She added that the educational and familial environment at the university has been an ideal foundation for her academic success.
At the conclusion of the event, Prof. Al-Mailem expressed her profound gratitude and appreciation to the graduate's family for their exceptional support in providing a nurturing educational environment that enhanced their children's academic capabilities and skills.
