The College of Pharmacy at Kuwait University organized an awareness event in conjunction with the global campaign to raise awareness of diabetes. The college administration is keen on such awareness events due to their importance in providing information which interests the college students, academic and administrative staff on diabetes, the causes of its spread, and how to prevent it, especially since Kuwaiti society suffers greatly from the spread of diabetes among its members. The college hosted the Dasman Diabetes Institute, the Kuwait Diabetes Association, and external parties (Wolf Nutrition Company - Al-Dawaeya Pharmacy - Abbott Company).
On this occasion, Acting Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Maitham Khajah, welcomed the attendees and stressed the importance of raising awareness about diabetes due to its wide spread in Kuwait among the middle and older age groups. He explained that type 2 diabetes can be avoided through examination, commitment to a healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition, and exercise, and the necessity of adhering to periodic examination.
