The Faculty of Arts holds the First International Conference “Cultural Interaction in Teaching French as a Foreign Language from the Perspective of Literature, Linguistics and Translation Science.”

The activities of the First International Conference entitled "Cultural Interaction in Teaching French as a Foreign Language from the Perspective of Literature, Linguistics and Translation", which was held by the College of Arts, represented by the Department of French Language and Cultures, took off on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the Southern Theater of the College of Arts - Sabah Al-Salem University City, in the presence of His Excellency the Ambassador of the French Republic, Mr. Olivier Gauvin.
At the beginning, Head of the Department of French Language and Cultures, Prof. Al-Zawawi Baghoura, welcomed the attendees, indicating that this conference is considered a celebration of the tenth anniversary of establishing the Department of French Language and Cultures, which was previously included in the Department of English Language and Literature. Prof. Al-Zawawi explained that this conference is only the first building block in the project to develop the teaching of French language, which the department is working to embody through gradual steps. He took the opportunity to extend his thanks to the entire work team for their efforts.
In turn, His Excellency the Ambassador of the French Republic, Mr. Olivier Gauvin, expressed his happiness to take part in the conference on the tenth anniversary of the Department of French Language and Cultures establishment, praising the cultural efforts of the State of Kuwait and its appreciation for languages in general and French in particular.
In conclusion, the Scientific Committee Rapporteur, Prof. Monsef Al-Khamiri, thanked the attendees, he also invited them to visit the exhibition accompanying the conference. He then announced the start of the first sessions of the conference, which will be held over two days, November 19 and 20, 2024.
