The Student Affairs Administration at the Deanship of Student Affairs at Kuwait University organized a student meeting for Student Activities Committees and Professional Clubs on Monday 16 December 2024 in the auditorium of the administrative building. During the meeting, the Excellence Award for the academic year 2024/2025 was announced in the presence of several university leaders, members of the academic and administrative staff, and students from the Student Activities Committees and Professional Clubs.
In his speech, Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Jassim Al-Hamdan, stressed that the meeting reflects the spirit of cooperation and integration between the university's various components, pointing out everyone's keenness to support and develop student work for the sake of the advancement of Kuwait University and the prosperity of Kuwaiti society.
Al-Hamdan also added that student activities are not just a way to pass time, but are fields for honing skills and developing capabilities, and instilling the values of cooperation and good citizenship. They also highlight Kuwait University's role as a leading educational institution that contributes to building future generations, stressing the importance of student participation in activities which enhance teamwork and contribute to raising the university's regional and international ranking. He encouraged everyone to present creative ideas and initiatives that contribute to developing student work.
For his part, the Head of the Union Department at the Deanship of Student Affairs, Mr. Abdullah Al-Mutairi, reviewed the objectives and criteria of the Excellence Award, indicating that it aims to develop a sense of leadership among university students, encourage them to showcase their talents and creativity, motivate them to excel and participate in various activities, in addition to spreading the spirit of positive competition among students.
He also explained that the excellence criteria for student activities committees included holding sports, artistic, and cultural activities, participating in volunteer work, contributing to organizing scientific trips, organizing scientific seminars and lectures, and publishing specialized bulletins and magazines.
As for the excellence criteria for professional clubs, they included organizing competitions and workshops that serve scientific specialization, organizing exhibitions inside and outside the university, and the inclusion of the largest number of students and people with disabilities in activities.
The meeting witnessed the participation of representatives of the Public Authority for Youth, Ms. Nouf Fleitah and Mr. Jassem Al-Baghli, where they presented an explanation of the “Initiatives Fund” to support the activities of professional clubs, and the “Nabdh Al-Thaqafa” project, which aims to enhance the cultural aspect among students in universities and institutions,
They further explained that the project aims to organize cultural activities, poetry readings, training courses, and student competitions to invest the free time of university youth productively and reduce negative phenomena.
At the end of the meeting, the floor was opened for discussion and answering the inquiries of the participating students.
